The Best Interest of The Child

If you lay down on the ground and put your ear in the dirt, you can hear it! You can hear the rumbling of footsteps. You will have to listen carefully, but it is definitely there. It is the movement of God's people to help those children who are caught up in the web of those that stalk and devour the innocent and helpless.

It started with a handful of people raising awareness about the horrors of child sex trafficking and then it became a petition to our justice system to be fair and just and now it is a cry from the people to rescue and restore!

I read something last night, a very long sentence, that ended with: "the best interest of the child shall be a primary consideration." Thank you, I couldn't have said it better myself!

If you are not fighting for these kids...why not?

When do we stop talking and start doing?

This is probably not a good idea...it's late and I'm tired, not sleepy, just tired.

After you have read all the books, gone to anti-trafficking conferences, talked and prayed with other abolitionist, then what? Once you know what is happening to our children around the world...what do you about it?

Texas doesn't even have a safe home for minors that have been rescued from sex trafficking. How can that be...how can we sleep at night until that changes!

I guess I want people to get angry and to cry out we are going to do something about it, something other than talk.

Winners of 2010 Christian Choice Book Awards

Xulon Announces winners of 2010 Christian Choice Book Awards.

A Collection of Squirrel Tales won second place in the Christian Fiction category. The book that came in first in this category is, All That Is Right and Holy by Megan Whitson Lee, a book about the evils of sex addiction and sex trafficking centering around a young girls death.

When you consider there is not a category for children's books, we feel really good about placing second in Christian Fiction.

I am excited about these books getting attention. It is all about bringing light to such a dark crime against our youth.

Anti-Human Trafficking Conference

Saturday I had the opportunity to be a part of an anti-human trafficking conference. As I sat in that room of about 150 people it struck me that God had called out each person individually to be a part of this fight. The fact that this is a fight was brought out at the conference, with so much money at stake for the traffickers, you could even call it a war. As I looked around the room I couldn't help but notice all of the young people there, our age group was definitely the minority, but that is OK. I believe it will be the young people that will ultimately make the difference, they will take the risk and cause change to come about, but that doesn't get us off the hook. It's the older people that have the finances and the means to help bring this effort to reality. We have to all be willing to work together. I felt so privileged to be among the ones gathered together in that room trying to find a way to help the helpless. That's not to say that I don't have my moments when I feel overwhelmed and under equipped, but that doesn't last long. I even feel a little bit sorry for those who aren't taking a part in this endeavor. I count it a blessing that I can play a part, no matter how small. My part in the conference was small, I sold books about a little flying squirrel named Rooster.

You Tube, here we come!

After days of hard work and hundreds of pictures I am happy to say we are almost there! "IT" is almost ready and I have a new found appreciation for those who post videos on You Tube as if it's no big deal. IF , and that's a big if, this video helps to generate Internet sales it will be worth all the frustration and hours of photographing.

It's knowing that the book is good and that it should be raising lots of money for these kids, but not being able to get it noticed that makes it... oh so maddening! It takes money and we are talking big money to help just one child to start a new life.

I constantly remind myself, baby steps, and I hang on to, one child at a time.

So, watch out You Tube, here we come!

Next Stop, You Tube!

The order has been placed and the new book is on it's way to my door. I will be promoting the book at some of the upcoming Human Trafficking conferences and trying to get it in the schools.

The biggest problem is trying to get the book noticed when you are a no body! I know this book is good, really good. We have had wonderful reviews from children of all ages. (5 to 75)

So, the next logical stop is You Tube. We don't have it all planned out yet, but we are working on it. (Rooster and the barker are even working on the video, see picture above)

This has been a hard first year with the book, but I'm not ready to throw in the towel. All it takes is one good break. The book has already helped to raise money for victims of child sex trafficking in other parts of the world. Now, the money will be used to help open an aftercare facility for minors rescued from sex trafficking in the U.S.A.

Sure could use your help...order "A Collection of Squirrel Tales" today, if not for yourself, donate it to your church or school library.

Finally...the book!

Today was the day, the book finally came!

After months of work and frustration it is finally finished. The new version of A Collection of Squirrel Tales is ready to go out. The most exciting part is the pages that were added to the back of the book with information about trafficking.

I would encourage anyone who hasn't read the book to order one today and read it. I have heard from people of all ages that have read the book and totally enjoyed it. I have had more than one grandparent contact me to let me know they bought the book for their grandchild but kept it and read it first then ordered one to keep.

This is such an easy way to get involved. The book helps to raise awareness and money to fight in the fight against trafficking.
